Classless Inter Domain Routing – method for allocating IP addresses introduced in 1993, also called slash notation, where the number before the slash is a network address, and the number after the slash represents the decimal number of bits in the routing prefix. The number after the slash essentially defines the size of the allocation as shown in the example table below.
